Youth - For UK NEETs data, young people are defined as those aged 16 to 24 years. Seasonally adjusted - Some data used are seasonally adjusted to remove the effects of seasonal factors and the arrangement of the calendar, this is referred to as being 'seasonally adjusted'.
NEET - Anybody who is not in education or training and not in employment is considered to be NEET.

These data are collected using the Labour Force Survey. See the Labour Force Survery QMI for information on quality and methodology. Further disaggregation by disability are available from Proportion of young people aged 16 to 24 years that are not in education, employment or training (NEET) by disability status, UK, 2014 to 2017. Both of these releases use older population weights that mean that they are not directly comparable to the figures shown here. NEET figures are produced separately, and using different methodologies, for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Therefore, the data cannot be compared by country. Data follows the UN specification for this indicator. This indicator has been identified in collaboration with topic experts. |
