Indicator description

This indicator is not directly relevant to the UK as it is a developed country. We therefore report developing countries’ and least developed countries’ share of UK imports, including both goods and services. This provides an indication of the UK’s trade engagement with these countries.

Definitions

Developing countries include all countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA), including least developed countries (LDCs). For a full list of ODA recipients and LDCs, please see the OECD website. Note that the list gets revised every three years and this is taken into account in the calculations (for example, some countries have graduated from LDC status since 2018).

Share of total imports calculated separately for all countries from ODA list (developing countries), LDCs, and developing countries excluding China - (Share of total imports/Total imports) * 100

Other information

The trade figures used for the calculation of this indicator are subject to revision aligned with National Accounts policy. This indicator is being used as an approximation of the UN SDG Indicator. Where possible, we will work to identify or develop UK data to meet the global indicator specification. This indicator has been identified in collaboration with topic experts.
